Removing Glued Down Hardwood Flooring From Concrete

Unveil a fresh, clean surface with the safe and efficient removal of glued-down hardwood flooring from concrete. Careful planning, specialized tools, and unwavering patience are key to success.

Assess the condition of the floor, ensuring the wood is still in good shape before proceeding. Look for any cracks, dents, or discoloration that could indicate damage. Once confirmed, it’s time to get to work.

Protect the walls and other surfaces by removing any trim or molding around the perimeter of the room. With heavy-duty gloves and safety glasses on, begin scraping away the glue that is holding the floor down. Use a floor scraper or pry bar to lift up as much of the glue as possible, being mindful of the tedious and time-consuming nature of this step. After all the glue has been removed, start lifting up sections of the wood flooring.

When all the hardwood has been removed, vacuum up any sawdust or debris created during the removal process, then use a damp cloth or mop to clean up any excess glue or dirt that may have accumulated on the concrete surface.

Removing glued-down hardwood flooring from concrete may be a challenging task, but with patience and the right tools, it can be accomplished safely and efficiently, revealing a new canvas for your next project.
