Cork Flooring Refinishing

Transform your living space into a natural oasis with the addition of cork flooring. Not only is it stylish and easy to clean, but it also boasts durable qualities that make it perfect for any room in your home. However, to keep your cork floors shining, they do require some TLC in the form of regular maintenance and refinishing.

Before you begin the refinishing process, it’s crucial to assess the state of your cork floors. If they’re still in good condition, a fresh coat of polyurethane will bring back their luster and defend them against daily wear. But, if the surface has sustained damage, sanding and applying a new finish will be necessary.

Gather all the necessary tools, including a sander, sandpaper, dust mask, cork sealant, and a polyurethane finish that complements your floor color.

Begin the refinishing journey by sanding the surface, being sure to wear a dust mask as cork creates a lot of dust. Vacuum up the dust particles and apply a thin coat of sealant, allowing it to dry completely.

After the sealant has dried, use a paint roller to apply two coats of the polyurethane finish. Give each coat ample time to dry before applying the next one. When both coats are dry, your cork floor will be revitalized and ready to be showcased! With some elbow grease and patience, you can enjoy the beauty of natural cork floors for years to come.
